SLOW DOWN
SLOW DOWN
Start the day with coffee and breakfast at EAT by Bold Cuisine, then take a walk along the Mersey River Esplanade.
From the café, you can wander toward Mersey Bluff, past the Art Deco & Federation homes lining the foreshore.
Stretch your legs
Continue around Mersey Bluff and visit the Tiagarra precinct, where guided cultural tours are available by booking.
Tiagarra Aboriginal Culture Centre
For a longer walk in nature, head instead to Bakers Beach in Narawntapu National Park, around 30 minutes from Devonport.
A couple of local favourites
Devonport has several good cafés tucked away that locals know well.
Slow road to the Trout
Once you leave Devonport, there is a small pocket of vineyard country around Sassafras and the coast. Choose one, or take your time and visit a few.
Ghost Rock Wines
The best-known of the three, with views across the vines toward Bass Strait. Lunch and formal tastings should be booked ahead.
Eastford Creek Vineyard
Family-run, relaxed and surrounded by working farmland near Sassafras. A good place to slow down without turning lunch into a major event.
La Villa Wines
Visit our friends at La Villa for cool-climate Italian varieties and a beautifully designed cellar door.
Say g’day to Gail and Marcus for us.
Through the country
From the vineyards, take the slower road toward Mole Creek through farmland, Sheffield and beneath Mount Roland.
Turn through Paradise, cross the Gog Range and follow the Mersey into Mole Creek.
Trowunna Wildlife Sanctuary runs its final devil tour at 3pm, which makes a good marker for the afternoon.
Behind the wildlife experience is decades of conservation, breeding, research and handler training.
From 4pm
Stop the engine. Settle in.
The Trout is open for check-in. Drop your bags, grab a drink and leave the rest to us.
There is still time to do more tomorrow.
The Trout awaits
